The Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA), also known to the public as REALTOR, is one of Canada’s largest single-trade associations, representing more than 100,000 Realtor members working through more than 100 real estate boards and councils.

In 2013, we began to enhance the existing REALTOR iPhone, iPad, and Android smartphone and tablet apps to help users not only speed up the process of searching for the perfect property, but help them at each step of the way. CREA originally came to us looking to improve the ratings for their suite of apps in market. After conducting a robust audit, we found the apps to be plagued with technical issues, as well as poor usability
that was disengaging users from the app. The proof was in the numbers; more than 80% of users existing the app from the home screen.
Based on our findings, we developed a strategy of enhancing the apps to serve almost as a personal shopper for users looking for property; in other words, becoming more utility-focused rather than content-based.
